Graham and Graham Family Investment L.P. have submitted an abandonment <br />petition to North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to abandon approximately 360' of <br />Carolina Loop (SR 1586) from its intersection with St. Mary's Road (SR 1002) from the State <br />Maintained System. This road closing is secured by condition 14 of the Special Use Permit <br />approved by the Board of Commissioners for Scotswood (aka Churton Grove of Hillsborough) <br />Planned Development. <br />Location: Churton Grove is located along the north side of US 70 Bypass and St. Mary's Road <br />northeast of Hillsborough. The entrance of Carolina Loop (SR 1586) . on St. Mary's Road is <br />approximately 100' from center of US 70. This intersection will be unsafe with the development of <br />Churton Grove. <br />Existin and Pro osed Conditions <br />Existing: Carolina Loop is also known as Carolina Avenue (SR 1586) and Second Street (SR <br />1587) and intersects St. Mary's Road at two points. The intersection of SR 1586 with St. Mary's <br />Road is the one to be eliminated. <br />
