(Orange County Speedway) _ <br />DEPARTMENT: Emergency Management PUBLIC HEARING: (YIN) No <br />ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Proposed Contract Nick Waters, ext 3030 <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough 732-8181 <br />Chapel Hill 9fi8~501 <br />Durham 688-7331 <br />Mebane 33fi-227-2031 <br />PURPOSE: To enter into a contract with OCR, Inc. to provide EMS coverage at Speedway <br />races and events. <br />BACKGROUND: The County has previously contracted with Raceway to provide and insure <br />adequate Emergency Medical coverage for races and events at the Speedway. There are <br />approximately thirty-five (35) races scheduled this season. The proposed contract details <br />coverage consisting of two (2) ambulances and two (2) paramedics at each race. The <br />ambulances would be staffed with Squad members, and the paramedics would be County staff. <br />The charge rates as proposed for this coverage are based on actual overtime cost plus <br />equipment rate. The proposed charges are $35 per hour for a Paramedic Response Vehicle, <br />$50 per hour for an ambulance with paramedic, and $10 per hour each additional Emergency <br />Medical Technician needed. A one-hour travel time charge for each vehicle is also proposed at <br />the respective $35 and $50 rates. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The County's costs would be covered by the charges as detailed in the <br />proposed contract. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board authorize the Chair to <br />sign the contract. <br />
