PROCLAMATION <br />Whereas, Nursing Homes and other long tens caze facilities have accepted the responsibility for <br />providing long term health caze services to the citizens of our community; and <br />Whereas, Over 600 residents reside in five nursing homes in Orange County, which are <br />Britthaven of Chapel Hill, Cazol Woods, Chapel Hill Rehabilitation and Healthcaze, <br />Meadowbrook Manor, and SunBridge for Hillsborough; and <br />Whereas, The quality of caze and quality of life of nursing home residents depends upon the <br />daily, conscientious services and hands-on caze provided by long term caze facility <br />staff, as well as the honoring of the federal Nursing Home Resident Bill of Rights; and <br />Whereas, Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee members, who serve as grassroots <br />ombudsmen, advocate for the rights of nursing home residents, as well as the physical, <br />mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being of these residents; and <br />Whereas, Nursing Hame Community Advisory Committee members are trained volunteers who <br />collaborate closely with residents, family members, facility staff, the Long Term Care <br />Ombudsman Program, the Orange County Department on Aging, and regulatory <br />agencies to ensure quality caze in full recognition of residents' dignity and <br />individuality; <br />Now, Therefore, We, the Orange County Commissioners, do hereby ,proclaim May 15 -~ 19, <br />2000 as <br />National Nursing Home Week 2000 <br />And urge all citizens to join with us in this observation. We encourage citizens to visit <br />our Nursing Homes and to express appreciation for the services performed by nursing <br />home staff and the advocacy efforts of the Nursing Home Community Advisory <br />Committee members'who represent the public good for Orange County. <br />This the 16~' day of May, 2000. <br />Moses Carey, Jr., Chair <br />
