Additional Consumer Price Index Information <br />The above chart shows changes in the national consumer price index as reported by the <br />U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics. It covers items such as food, <br />housing, apparel, transportation, medical care, education, energy, and other goods and <br />services. Far the 12 months ended March 2000, the Consumer Price Index increased 3.7 <br />percent. Based on the January through March 2000, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports <br />that the consumer price index is increasing at a seasonally adjusted annualized rate of 5.$ <br />percent.
