The Commission concurs <br />with the Work Group's interest in beginning to land-bank for future <br />parks. With this in mind, we would share the following comments and <br />recommendations regarding our future role: <br />- The Commission for the Environment stands ready and willing to <br />make recommendations to the Board of Commissioners on the <br />preservation and acquisition of natural areas, wildlife habitat and <br />riparian buffers -consistent with the charge to the Commission to <br />advise the Board on matters concerning the environment. <br />- The Commission would like to have significant representation on the <br />proposed Parks Council, in regard to the expressed interest in <br />protecting natural areas and wildlife habitat in a more- <br />comprehensive parks concept. <br />F: \USERS\DSTANCIL\CFE\MRPCDMMT.
