66 <br />V1[I. PROPERTY VALUES <br />(a) For land or homes within the area shown on Exhibit 2, OWASA and <br />ASC will compensate for loss of fair mazket value, if any, resulting from quarry <br />operations, according to the guidelines set forth herein. In order far a land or <br />homeowner to take advantage of this provision, the following requirements must <br />be met: <br />1. The home or land must have been owned by the landowner making <br />the request prior to 1978, the year in which current quarry <br />operations commenced. <br />CAQE,,wants the 1978~'~~~te regnireinent:removed. <br />2. The owner must make a good faith effort to obtain maximum <br />value. A sale or loan must have occurred within 30 days prior to <br />owners request for valuation. <br />3. It the owner believes the value has been impacted, the owner must <br />notify OWASA, in writing, which will start the evaluation process. <br />4. This provision will apply only one time to any given piece of <br />property. <br />(b) The evaluation process will be as follows: <br />1. OWASA and ASC will contact an MAI Appraiser (Member of The <br />American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers) from North Carolina <br />and not used by either ASC; Martin Marietta Materials, Inc. or <br />
