Box 8181 <br />I~illsborough, NC 27278 <br />Subject: Extended Stone Quarry Reservoir <br />Apri112, 2000 Joint Planning Area Public Hearing <br />Dear Jahn: <br />On behalf of the Orange Water and Sewer Authority (OWASA) and our co-applicant, American <br />Stone Company, I am providing information in support of our joint request to amend the Orange <br />County/Chapel HilllCarrboro Joint Planning Agreement; the Joint Planning Area Land Use Plan ~= <br />and map; and the Land Use Element and map of the Orange County Comprehensive Plan, which <br />will be heard at the April 12, 2000 Joint Planning Area Public Hearing. <br />Attached are the following documents: <br />• Water Supply: A SaYear Yision for Carrbora, Chapel Hill, and Southern Orange County <br />This OWASA staffreport contains technical and policy information as to how the <br />proposed extended stone quarry reservoir fits into OWASA's long-term raw water supply <br />plan- <br />• Final Report: Supplement to Stone Quarry Environmentad Impact Statement <br />Prepared by Tetra Tech, Inc., this report provides an update of the 1993 Environmental <br />Impact Statement for the stone quarry area. . <br />• Summary of Mitigation Measures for the Factended Stone Quarry Reservoir <br />This report was prepared jointly by American Stone Company and OWASA and <br />summarizes community and environmental mitigation measures which have been or are <br />planned to be implemented by American Stone Company and OWASA. <br />In,addition to these documents, I respectfully request that you would allow us to submit <br />additional information no later than Monday, March 13, 2000. The OWASA Board of Directors <br />will be considering a resolution in support of the Extended Stone Quarry Reservoir at their <br />March 9, 2000 meeting. <br />
