Jnly 14,1999 <br />Phase II: Planning and Development <br />11 <br />Phase II consists of first identifying other similar WIMP programs in the U.S. and reviewing the <br />educational plans and materials used Depending on appropriateness of other materials, either <br />adopt existing resources or develop educational modules for the target audiences in Orange <br />County. Several modules are necessary because there are several different interested parties in <br />the WIMP and each plays a separate but important role in the success of the WT1V1P, <br />Phase II Purpose: <br />The purpose of phase two is to establish mechanisms to reach all interested target audiences and <br />clearly define their role in WIMP. The development of educational modules will: <br />• Provide consistency across all educational sessions; <br />• Increase knowledge about WIMP and. develop skills in maintenance; and <br />• Establish a working network to support WIMP and system referrals among training <br />session participants. <br />'The training modules will contain core educational pieces but will be adapted to fit the audience <br />(e.g. homeowners, installers etc.) needs. <br />Training modules are needed for the following audiences: <br />• Business (real estate, banks etc,); <br />• Homeowners (volume 1 and volume 2); <br />• Septic Tank Installers; <br />~1~~ <br />• Community Wastewater System Operators; .and <br />• Governing and Regulatory/Advisory Boards, <br />Modules should include (in varying detail): <br />i. Introduction (purpose, goals of WIMP, learning objectives) <br />ii. Overviewof county policies and WIMP fees, incentives <br />iii. Explanation of <br />alternative systems <br />conventional systems <br />iv. Generally recommended schedule of checks .and pumping <br />v. Referral list of resources (including `~rufeaed" list) <br />vi. Sample farms <br />vii. Sample homeowner tip sheet (e.g. maintenance, "do's and don'ts' <br />viii. Expected outcomes <br />ix. Measures of evaluation <br />
