Clean Water Management Trust Fund <br />Grant Agreement No. 1999A-017 <br />Orange County Property Acquisition <br />Exhibit A <br />Water Ouality Obi ectiv~: The water quality objective of this <br />project is to establ~.sh and maintain 300-feet wide riparian <br />buffers along a section of the Eno River (Corporation Lake), <br />McGowan Creek, and an unnamed tributary to the Eno which flows <br />through the property and into Corporation Lake, a WS-II public <br />water supply. <br />32 <br />Project Description: Orange County will acquire a &2.65 acre <br />parcel of land that includes property located within 400 feet of <br />the Corporation Lake public water supply impoundment located on <br />the Eno River. McGowan Creek, a main tributary of the Eno, is <br />just north of the property and an unnamed tributary of the Eno <br />traverses the property. Three hundred feet wide riparian buffers <br />within the 62.65 acre parcel to~be purchased will buffer the <br />Eno_, McGowan Creek and the unnamed tributary. These riparian <br />buffers will be placed under a permanent conservation easement. <br />Property Description: The parcel of land to be purchased is part <br />of Duke Forest (Hillsboro Division) and owned by Duke <br />University. The parcel is located in central Orange County,, <br />north of US 70 West and adjacent to property owned by the <br />Orange-Alamance Water System, Inc., that contains Corporation <br />Lake. The 62.65 acre parcel to be purchased is identified as <br />Orange County Tax Map Block Lot (TMBL) Number 3.41..1.4 and PIN <br />9855-50-8167. The 62.65 acre parcel is further identified and <br />depicted, on the March 2000 Callemyn-Parker, Inc. plat of survey <br />titled "Property surveyed for Orange County Environment & <br />Resource Conservation Department" which plat is recorded at Plat <br />Book Page of the Orange County Registry. The <br />property subject to the conservation easement to be conveyed to <br />the State of North Carolina in consideration of the grant funds <br />is that portion of the 62.65 acre parcel totalling 31.91. acres <br />designated on the recorded plat as "SUBJECT TO CONSERVATION <br />EASEMENT AGREEMENT BETWEEN ORANGE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA AND THE <br />STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA." <br />Project Budget.: The project budget consists of approximately <br />$150,000 from Orange County and $143,000 from the CWMTF. Six <br />Thousand Dollars ($6,000) of the money received from CWMTF will <br />be used for surveying and legal/administrative fees; $137,000 <br />will be applied to the land purchase. <br />
