15 <br />C4058-03/00 <br />WEIGHMASTER <br />GENERAL DEFII~TITION OF WORK: <br />Performs difficult skilled clerical work operating the scale house by weighing vehicles <br />and collecting landfill tipping fees; does related work as required. <br />TYPICAL TASKS: <br />Weighs vehicles and audits loads by remote camera or visual inspection to ensure load <br />conforms to customer's dumping permit and includes no hazazdous waste; <br />Collects payment or charges the customer's account based on weight of vehicle; posts all <br />receipts and chazges to computerized bulling system database; prepazes all data for <br />monthly bills; <br />Explains regulations and fees to customers; directs them to correct dumping location; <br />Denies access to customers with delinquent accounts and unacceptable loads; answers all <br />customer inquiries about the landfill or landfill bills; <br />Sets up new customer accounts; verifies status of new contract haulers, assigns truck <br />numbers for billing and determines weight of truck; <br />Inputs weight, load, and other charge data into computer database and prints a bilUreceipt <br />for the customer; <br />Maintains daily records of disposal activities; produces regular and special reports using <br />computerized database; <br />Coordinates with Solid Waste personnel and Finance on all aspects of accounting and <br />billing; <br />Notifies supervisor of scale equipment maintenance needs and maintains records of <br />equipment failures; <br />Performs minor repairs and maintenance; <br />Opens and closes electronic gates to landfill and landfill satellite operations; <br />Opens and secures scale house at end of day; <br />Performs related tasks as required. <br />KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: <br />General knowledge of landfill policies, rules, and regulations; general knowledge of solid <br />waste materials; ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with the public; ability <br />to explain and enforce rules and regulations; ability to operate computer equipment; <br />ability to accurately account for money; ability to observe and identify materials. <br />EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE• <br />Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school <br />and at least 2 years experience in a billing operation or related area. <br />
