GS-6 <br />FINISI3: The finished concrete shall be smooth, and should <br />shl.ow voids be discovered when the forms are taken down, <br />the defective work shall be removed and the space filled <br />with 1:2 mortar under pressure, carefully rubbed down to <br />uniformity with the adjacent surface. Honeycombing must <br />be avoided. Plaster on exposed surfaces will not be <br />allowed. <br />All concrete surfaces exposed to view shall be <br />rubbed smooth with carborundum stone, removing all impressions <br />of forms and other irregularities. <br />When the work is complete all concrete which will <br />be subjected to water pressure shall be water-tight, and no <br />water-proofing material shall be used in the concrete which <br />will in any way injure the strength of the concrete. <br />STEEL FOR RLINFORCING: All steel for reinforced concrete <br />shall be open-hearth 'Medium Steel," manufactured and prepared <br />according to "Manufacturer's Standard Specifications.` The <br />steel shall have an ultimate strength of not less than 60,000 <br />pounds per square inch; elastic limit of not less than one- <br />half the ultimate strength; percentage of elogation 20 to <br />25 per cent; bending test 180 degrees to a diameter equal to <br />thickness of the piece tested without fracture on outside of <br />bent portion. <br />The bars shall not vary in weight per foot more than <br />2 1/2 per cent. Deformed bars shall be used. <br />All bars shall be of sufficient length to extend <br />through the full length of girders and slabs, and joints <br />shall be made over supports and by lapping for a length of <br />at.least 30 diameters. No welding of bars will be permitted. <br />17ATLRPROOFING: All concrete walls and bottoms of structures <br />designed ontain water shall be waterproofed with integral <br />waterproofing, which shall 1>e the equal of Masterbuilders. <br />It shall be added to the dry aggregates in proportions <br />recommended by the manufacturer and not more than two per <br />cent of the weight of the cement. <br />REINFORCED CONCRL••TE PIPE:: All pipe used shall he lock joint <br />prestressed concrete cylinder pipe, as manufactured by <br />Interspace, SP-54 or equal. It shall conform to the following <br />specifications: AVA A C-301, with 0-ring, rubber gasket and . <br />Steel joint. The 48 inch pipe shall have a thickness of <br />3 inches and shall be furnished in 16 feet sections. It shall <br />be suitable for use under a 35 ft. head, with compacted <br />earth pressure of 37 ft. <br />SLUICE GATES: Sluice gates shall be tight from either side <br />iron body, bronze mounted with bronze rising stem and roller <br />bearing operating stand. <br /> <br />w
