The vertical member shall be poured in one <br />continuous operation up to the bottom of the horizontal <br />member supgorted by it. <br />Construction joints shall be made in a manner and <br />only at such points as shown on plans, or as may be approved <br />by the Engineer. <br />Floors must be kept entirely undisturbed until w thoroughly days hard and be <br />concrete must be protected against damage. No salt or other chemical <br />shall be used to prevent freezing. <br />CURING: Concrete shall be protected from too rapid drying <br />w,'ien Placed in warm weather, and shall be protected from <br />the sun, and sprinkled to keep it wet. Concrete shall be <br />kept wet (with running water, if practical) over the canvas <br />or burlap covering for the remainder of the period. An <br />approved concrete curing compound may he used. <br />FORMS: For all surfaces except those against which earth <br />Ts -to be backfilled shall be of planed, tongue and groove <br />material, generally of 1 1/2 inch lumber, or plywood or <br />presswood properly reinforced; amply braced to prevent <br />distortion and bulging, and all forms shall be clean, <br />smooth and tight, and so used as to produce structures <br />with true lines and surfaces. Form ties must be such as <br />can be readily removed without damage to the concrete <br />structure and holes plugged. Chamfer strips shall be used <br />to bevel ail exposed edges. <br />Vertical forms must not be removed in less than 2 <br />days; and forms that support slabs, beams, girders, etc., <br />or shoring, must remain at least 10 days as the Engineer <br />may determine. <br /> <br />
