1 <br />C'S_ l <br />GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS <br />DESCRIPTION: The work covered by this contract consists of <br />t econst`ruction of Lake Orange Dam, Spillway and appur- <br />tenances. <br />The drawings accompanying these specifications include <br />plan-profiles and details of the dam, spillway, gate shaft, <br />etc..iind'nrmbered sheets 1 to 6 inclusive, and dated may, <br />1967. <br />These general specifications shall apply to all work <br />contemplated in the project, except only as modified under <br />specific items hereinafter specified or upon the drawings. <br />The work contemplated and covered by these Specifica- <br />tions, and by the items under which the bids are made, <br />consists of furnishing, delivering and erecting all <br />materials, equipment, appurtenances, supplies, and <br />furnishing all labor, tools, and means of construction to <br />complete the sewer lines, and the accepted bid shall include <br />all work shown on the drawings, or included in the specifi- <br />cations, or reasonably implied by either the plans or <br />specifications. <br />All materials and workmanship for this undertaking <br />shall be strictly first class and of the best of their <br />respective kinds and shall conform to the following with- <br />out further reference, unless otherwise specifically stated. <br />BRICRUORK: All brick used in the work shall be hard, <br />tougT'; sound brick of first class quality, especially <br />suitable for this class work. Overburned brittle brick <br />or brick from benches of kilns will not be accepted. <br />Brick shall be of the best quality and appearance. <br />All brick used in the work shall be sound. Bats <br />shall not be used except as closures, and not more than <br />ten per cent of-any portion of the brick masonry shall be <br />composed of bats. <br />Brick shall be wet at the time of laying, except <br />when liable to freeze. They shall be laid in full bed of <br />mortar to true lines and level courses, with joints of <br />uniform thickness. All joints shall be flushed full from <br />the trowel, and every course shall be flushed up thoroughly <br />with mortar. <br />brickwork shall be plumb and square, to full dimen- <br />sions shown or indicated, and in perfect bond, and shall <br />be protected from too rapid drying out and from freezing. <br /> <br />
