This renovation will create office space for the Department by enclosing the <br />front porch area of the Planning and Ag Building, thereby allowing them to consolidate their <br />offices into one area. <br />The renovation wi~:incarpocate:window units across the front of the porch area and will extend <br />approximately to~:westedge of the Soil and Water offices. ERCD new walls constructed as <br />part of the reno~.w~l be finished with drywall, the area will be carpeted and will have <br />suspended ceilir~Hith lay-in lighting fixtures. An entrance corridor will provide entry into the <br />building at the present location. The project is anticipated to take from 30-60 days and <br />contractors are ready to begin immediately. <br />The Planning Department will expand into the area vacated by ERCD. Additional minor <br />renovations, outside of the scope of this contract, will occur within Planning and the vacated <br />space after ERCD has moved. <br />Plann+ng, ERCD;-Public Works and Purchasing Department-sta#s evaluated existing space and <br />developed plans and specifications that would best address space needs. Bids were solicited <br />pursuant to North Carolina General Statutes. Bids were sent out to six prospective contractors. <br />A pre-bid conference was held on January 28, 2000.
