The Human Relations Commission as well as other groups dedicated to the promotion of <br />good human relations has planned activities during the month. The Human Relations Commission has <br />developed the theme, `II`Building Bridges: From Tolerance to Acceptance" to promote the ideal that we <br />must all strive to create an atmosphere where people are valued and accepted rather than merely tolerated. <br />Centered around the theme, the Human Relations Commission is conducting a Mural Contest with Orange <br />County and Chapel Hilll/Carrboro elementary through high schools. The Commission will also honor a <br />citizen, a youth leaderand for the first time an Orange County business with the annual Pauli Murray <br />Award at a reception on February 27`h at A. L. Stanbeck Middle School at 3:00 p.m. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: None . <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The manager recommends that the Board adopt the proclamation.
