Monday, May 29, 1967 at 7:30 P.M. <br />was designated as the meeting date for this purpose. <br />Discussion ensued concerning the failure of the General Assembly to <br />adopt a proposed Local Option Sales Tax legislation. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Ward, it was moved that the Board of <br />Commissioners contact our local legislative delegation and request that they <br />support the same proposed legislation on a state wide level. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board said meeting <br />was adjourned to meet again on Monday, May 29, 1967 at 7:30 P.M. in the <br />Commissioners room at the courthouse in Hillsborough for the purpose of approving <br />the sale of the Office Building Bond Anticipation notes. <br />Harvey D. Gattis, Acting Clerk <br />MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />May 29, 1967 <br />The Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange, North Carolina, met <br />in regular adjourned at the County Courthouse in Hillsborough, the usual place <br />of meeting, at 7:30 o-clock P.M. on Monday, May 29, 1967. <br />Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, and Commissioners William C. Ray, <br />Carl M. Smith, Henry S. Walker, and Ira A. Ward. <br />Absent: None. <br />Commissioner Smith introduced the following resolution which was read: <br />RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE <br />OF $130,000 COUNTY OFFICE BUILDING <br />BOND ANTICIPATION NOTES <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange: <br />Section 1. The Board of Commissioners has determined and does hereby <br />find and declare: <br />(a) That an order authorizing $130,000 County Office Building Bonds of <br />the County of Orange was finally passed on March 20, 1967. <br />(b) That none of said bonds has been issued and it is necessary to issue <br />$130,000 notes in anticipation of the receipt of the proceeds of a like amount <br />of said bonds. <br />Section 2. In anticipation of the receipt of the proceeds of a like <br />amount of said bonds the issuance of $130,000 negotiable notes of the County of <br />Orange is hereby authorized, which notes shall be designated "County Office <br />Building Bond Anticipation Notes", shall be dated June 15, 1967, shall mature on <br />Sept. 1, 1967, without option of prior payment, shall bear interest at a rate to <br />be determined by the Local Government Commission at the time the notes are sold, <br />not exceeding 6% per annum, which interest shall be payable at the maturity of the
