Northern Human Services Durham 688-7331 <br /> Center Capital Project Mebane 336827.2031 <br /> Ordinance <br /> PURPOSE: To approve budget ordinance and capital project ordinance amendments for fiscal year <br /> 2002-03. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Department of Social Services <br /> 1. The Department of Social Services has received ratification from the State of additional Crisis <br /> Intervention funds totaling $41,202 to be used for crisis related living needs (such as utility bill <br /> aietence) by citizens who are 'medically at risk'. These additional funds bring the current <br /> budget for this program to $133,217 for FY 2002-03. This budget amendment provides for the <br /> receipt of these State funds. (See Attachment 1,column#1) <br /> 2. The Department has also received notification from the State of additional Energy Administration <br /> funds totaling $3,434 to be used to offset the costs of staff administering the Crisis Intervention <br /> Program. These additional funds bring the current budget for this program to $16,616 for FY <br /> 2002-03. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these State funds. (See <br /> Attachment 1, column 12). <br /> Environment and Resource Conservation Department <br /> 3. The Federal Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 induced an appropriation of $50 <br /> million to purchase agricultural conservation easements throughout the United States. Of the <br /> $50 million appmpriation, North Carolina was awarded $2.2 million to be distributed to interested <br /> local governments throughout the state.
