y, <br />April 3 1967 minutes continued <br />"Shall there be levied and collected within the area constituting the Chapel <br />Hill School District an additional special tax, over and above the present 202 <br />per hundred dollar property valuation special tax now in effect, increasing <br />said 202 per hundred dollar valuation special tax to not exceeding 35e per <br />hundred dollar property valuation within said area, to further supplement the <br />current expense funds from-State and County allotments and thereby operate <br />schools of the Chapel Hill Administrative Unit within the Chapel Hill School <br />District of a higher standard by supplementing any item of expenditure in the <br />school budget?" <br />Said election shall be held pursuant to and in accordance with the pertinent <br />provisions of Chapter 115, Subchapter V, of the General Statutes of North Carolina <br />and the laws governing general elections. <br />2. The polling places within the Chapel Hill School District, which are <br />designated below in the form of "Notice of Special Election" to be held and the po <br />for said election shall open and close at. the hours specified in said Notice. The <br />election officials whose names appear in said Notice have been appointed by the <br />Board of Commissioners. <br />. 3. The Clerk of the Board of Commissioners is hereby authorized and directed tc <br />publish said Notice of Special Election in The News of Orange County and the Chapel <br />Hill Weekly, newspapers published in Orange County, North Carolina, and having <br />general circulation in the area referred to in this resolution; at least thirty days <br />before the date hereinbefore fixed for said election and thereafter twice before the <br />election at intervals of at least one week between publications, such notice to be <br />substantially in the following form: <br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION <br />AND SUPPLEMENTAL REGISTRATION <br />IN THE <br />CHAPEL HILL SCHOOL DISTRICT <br />ORANGE COUNTY <br />A special election will be held on Tuesday, May 239 1967, between the hours of <br />6:30 o'clock a.m. and 6:30 p.m., Daylight Savings Time, in the area hereinafter <br />described, which area constitutes the Chapel Hill School District of Orange County, <br />.for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters residing in said area the <br />following question: <br />"Shall there be levied and collected within the area constituting the Chapel H` <br />School District an additional special tax, over and above the present 202 per <br />hundred dollar property valuation special tax now in effect, increasing said 2( <br />per hundred dollar valuation special tax to not exceeding 352 per hundred do11E <br />property valuation within said area, to further supplement the current expense <br />funds from State and County allotments and thereby operate schools of the Chape <br />Hill Administrative Unit within the Chapel Hill School District of a higher <br />standard by supplementing any item of expenditure in the school budget?" <br />If said tax is levied it will be levied upon all taxable property situated <br />within the Chapel Hill School District, as described herein, for the purposes above <br />set forth. Each ballot provided for the use of voters in voting on the above <br />question in said special election shall have the above question printed thereon and <br />shall bear the words "FOR Local Special Tax" and "AGAINST Local Special Tax", and <br />shall contain squares opposite the affirmative and negative forms, in one of which <br />squares the voter may make a cross (X) mark. <br />The area which comprises the Chapel Hill School District of Orange County is th <br />area contained within the following boundaries: <br />BEGINNING at a point in the intersection of the center line of the county road <br />that leads from Eubanks westwardly to old N. C. Highway #86 and the center line <br />of State University Railway at Eubanks, running thence in a Northeasterly <br />direction to a point where Louis Freeland's drive enters N. C. Highway #86, <br />thence in an Easterly direction to the intersection of Erwin Road and New Hope <br />Creek near the Durham County line and thence in an Easterly direction to the <br />Durham County line, thence in a Southerly direction along the Durham County lin <br />to its intersection with the Chatham County line; thence in a Westerly directio <br />along the Chatham County line to the intersection of said county line with the <br />township line between Bingham and Chapel Hill Townships; thence due north along <br />said township line crossing the Jones Ferry Road 1.25 miles Northeasterly from <br />its intersection with the Orange and Chatham County line; crossing Antioch Road <br />at its intersection with N. C. Secondary Road #5163, crossing N. C. Highway #54 <br />just West of Bates Store, crossing N. C. Secondary Road #56 at Bethel Church, a <br />total distance of 39,177 feet to the intersection of N. C. Secondary Road #512 <br />with the paved road that leads from Dodson's Crossroads Southeasterly to Calvani <br />(N. C. Secondary Road 4511); thence along and'with the center of said N. C. <br />Secondary Road #512 in a Northeasterly direction 1,584 feet to a point in the <br />center of said road; thence South 72 deg. 30 min. East 4,382 feet to a.point in <br />the center of the East side of loop road, said point being 3,696 feet North of <br />the first intersection North of Neville's Store; thence South 80 deg. 45 min. <br />East 4,752 feet to a point in the center of the old N. C. Highway #86, said poil <br />being 2,640 feet North of the first intersection North of Calvander; thence Soul <br />74 deg. 00 min. East 8,190 feet to the beginning point.
