<br />Upon motion of Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Walker the
<br />following Notice of Intent To Apply To The Local Government Commission For Approval
<br />of Bonds was unanimously adopted:
<br />NOTICE OF INTENTION TO APPLY TO THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT
<br />COMMISSION.FOR APPROVAL OF BONDS
<br />NOTICE is hereby given of intention of the undersigned to file application.with
<br />the Local Government Commission, Raleigh, North Carolina, for its approval of the
<br />issuance of the following proposed bonds of the County of Orange, North Carolina,
<br />which bonds shall be subject to the approval of the voters of said County at an
<br />election:
<br />53,000,000 School Building Bonds for the purpose of providing funds, with any
<br />other available funds, for erecting additional school buildings
<br />and other school plant facilities, remodeling, enlarging and
<br />reconstructing existing school buildings and other school plant
<br />facilities, and acquiring necessary land and equipment therefor,
<br />in order to provide additional school facilities in the County of
<br />Orange to maintain the six months' school term in said County as
<br />required by Section 3 of Article IX of the Constitution,:
<br />This notice was first published on the 16th day of March, 1967. Any citizen
<br />or taxpayer objecting to the issuance of all or any of said bonds may file with the
<br />Local Government Commission a verified statement setting forth his objections as
<br />provided in Section 159-7.1 of the General Statutes of North Carolina, in which
<br />event he shall also file a copy of such statement with the undersigned, at any time
<br />within ten days from and after such first publication. A Copy of this notice must
<br />be attached to the statement so filed. Objections set forth in said statement shall
<br />be for consideration by said Commission in its determination of whether or not it
<br />may hold a public hearing as provided by law on the matter of issuance of said bonds.

<br />resolution was accepted:
<br />"The Chapel City Board of Education met at Superintendent's Office, in Chapel
<br />Hill, North Carolina, the usual place of meeting, at 7:30 o'clock, P.M., on March 6,
<br />1967, in Regular session.
<br />Present: Mr. Grey Culbreth, Chairman, and Mr. Edwin Tenney, Mr.. Ben Perry, Mrs.
<br />Mary Scroggs', Dr. Richard Peters, Dr. Fred Ellis, Dr. Roy Lindahl.
<br />Absent: None.
<br />RESOLUTION PETITIONING THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY
<br />OF ORANGE TO CALL AN ELECTION IN THE CHAPEL HILL CITY ADMINISTRATIVE
<br />UNIT TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT THE MAXIMUM LIMIT OF THE SUPPLEMENTARY
<br />TAX TO BE LEVIED IN THAT ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT SHALL BE RAISED
<br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Chapel Hill City Board of Education:
<br />Section 1. That the Board of Commissioners of Orange County call an election
<br />the Chapel Hill City Administrative Unit to determine the will of the people on the
<br />issue of whether or not the maximum limit of the supplementary tax to be levied in
<br />that administrative unit shall be raised to the rate of thirty-five cents per one
<br />hundred dollars evaluation for the purpose of improving and enriching the education
<br />program of the schools in the Chapel Hill City Administrative Unit.
<br />Section 2. That the district in which this election shall be held shall be
<br />composed of the present Chapel Hill City School District as described in a petition
<br />to the Board of Commissioners of Orange County on March 19, 1962.
<br />Section 3. A copy of this resolution shall immediately be certified to the Bo
<br />of Commissioners for the County of Orange.
<br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, the foregoing resolution was passed by the
<br />following vote:
<br />Ayes: .Mrs. Mary SCroggs, Mr. Edwin Tenney, Mr. Ben Perry, Dr. Richard Peters,
<br />Dr. Fred Ellis, Dr. Roy Lindahl.

<br />I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing is an accurate copy of so much of the recos
<br />proceedings of a meeting of the Chapel Hill City Board of Education held on March 6,
<br />1969, as related to the passage of the resolution hereinabove set forth, and that su
<br />proceedings have been recorded in Minute Book 1965-67, beginning at page 599 and
<br />ending at page 599.
