The Board of Commissioners endorsed the proposed Uniform Fee Schedule, for <br />the Register of Deeds office, which would be introduced under the sponsorship of <br />the North Carolina Register of Deeds Association. <br />r+ <br />J <br />1, 3 <br />Commissioner Smith read a letter from Ann Scott. Said letter expressed <br />appreciation to the Board of Commissioners for their action in adopting the <br />,Chapel HL11 Township Zoning Ordinance. <br />The following jury lists were draws: <br />April 24, 19.67 82 names <br />June 12, 1967 60 names <br />June 26, 1967 60 names <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Ward, seconded by Commissioner Smith and <br />unanimously adopted, Charles W. C. was <br />appointed as a member of the Chapel Hill Township Planning.Board to-replace Aubrey <br />McLennan. <br />Upon motion of Comihissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Ward and unanimous2 <br />adopted, the following persons.were appointed to the Chapel Hill Township Board of <br />Adjustment: <br />Harold Roberts, Jones Ferry Road, Chapel Hill, N. C. 2 year term <br />Discussion ensued concerning the Mental Health program for Orange County which <br />had been proposed at the meeting held on February 22, 1967 in Chapel Hill: No <br />action was taken. <br />Commissioner Ray stated that Fred Claytor, Mayor.of the Town of Hillsborough, <br />had approached him concerning the problem which now exists at the city garbage dump. <br />Discussion ensued concerning the garbage disposal problem in Northern Orange County. <br />It was agreed that the Board would request further information from the Town of <br />Hillsborough concerning said matter. <br />Thefollowing petition was received from the Orange County Board of Education: <br />"The Orange County Board of Education met at its offices in Hillsborough, <br />North Carolina, the usual place of meeting, at 10:00 a.m. on March 6, 1967, in <br />regular session. <br />Present: C. W. Stanford, Chairman, and John E. Hawkins, John L. Efland, Jr., <br />Roger L. Marshall, W. Glen Caruthers, Jr. <br />Absent: None <br />John E. Hawkins, Member, introduced the following resolution which was read: <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF <br />ORANGE TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SCHOOL FACILITIES IN THE COUNTY OF ORANGE <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Orange County Board of Education: <br />Section.l. The Orange County Board of Education has determined and found as a <br />fact that adequate school facilities are not now available in the County of Orange <br />to comply with the requirements of Section 3 of Article IX of the Constitution of <br />North Carolina for the maintenance of schools six months in every year, and that it- <br />is necessary, in order to maintain such six months' school term as required by said <br />Section 3 of Article IX of the Constitution, to erect additional school buildings <br />and other school plant facilities, remodel, enlarge and reconstruct existing school <br />buildings and other school plant facilities and acquire necessary land and equipment <br />therefor, in order to provide additional school facilities in said County, the <br />estimated cost of such additional school facilities being $1,000,000. <br />Section 2. The Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange is requested to <br />take all necessary steps, by the issuance of bonds or otherwise, in order that funds <br />may be provided €or'such school facilities. <br />Section 3. A copy of this resolution shall immediately be certified to the <br />Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, the foregoing resolution was passed by <br />the following vote: <br />Ayes: C.
