{1 <br />Minutes of March 6, 1967 Continued - <br />The County Attorney discussed with the Board the problems involved concerning <br />the failure of the Town of Carrboro to submit the proper petition-for the proposed <br />recreation district election. Mr. Graham advised the Board that they had no <br />jurisdiction to act upon said matter until all municipality petitions were received. <br />Commissioner Ward suggested that the Town of Carrboro be sent an official notice <br />advising the Board of Aldermen that unless a proper petition was received by the <br />Orange County Board of Commissioners the County Board would be unable to act on the <br />other municipality recreation district petitions. <br />Sheriff Knight was present to discuss with the Board the need for a Constable <br />to serve in Chapel Hill Township. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Ward and unanimousl <br />adopted, Henry Mack Williams of Chapel Hill Township was appointed Constable for <br />said Township to fill the unexpired term of Vernon Burch. <br />Frank Jordan, member of Jones Grove Baptist Church: located at Route #2, <br />Hillsborough, N. C., requested that the Board discuss the proposed road improvement <br />because it appeared to him that the stakes located on said Jones Grove Baptist Churc <br />Road would take all of the front of the church yard. The Board advised Mr. Jordan <br />that they would discuss the matter with representatives of the highway department <br />who were scheduled to meet with the Board later in the day. <br />Chairman Bennett read a letter from the State Board of Welfare, Said letter <br />advised the Board that the term of Robert L. Satterfield, member of said board, <br />would expire on June 30, 1967. No action was taken. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Ward, Walker J. <br />[Dunsmore, Route #2, Chapel Hill, North Carolina was appointed to fill the unexpired <br />erm of J. Richard Webb on the Carrboro Planning Board. This vacancy.was created <br />y the death of J. Richard Webb. <br />T. A. Burton, Division Engineer; E. F. Hoover, J. B. Taylor and C. I. Walters, <br />representatives of the State Highway program presented Part "B" Bond Program to the <br />Board.
