I A N SAM LEGAL Rule <br /> Section 1. The name of this organization shall be the Animal Protection Society <br /> of Orange County, Inc. (hereinafter "the Society"), a non-profit organization <br /> incorporated under the laws of the State of North Carolina governing non-profit <br /> educational and charitable corporations. <br /> i <br /> Section 2. The organization is formed and operated on a non- profit basis; no <br /> part of any net earnings and no dividends or other profits shall accrue to the <br /> benefit of any member or individual. <br /> AI=CLE tt. PURPOSE <br /> The purpose of this organization shall be the prevention of cruelty to animals <br /> and the relief of suffering among animals; the investigation of cruelty reports; <br /> the care of lost, homeless, mistreated or injured animals; the operation of an <br /> animal shelter, privately or under contract with public authorities; the <br /> establishment of in adoption system for people seeking pets; ;the development of <br /> an effective and humane animal control program in Orange County and elsewhere; <br /> public education for the humane treatment of animals; and all other purposes set <br /> out in the corporate charter and as allowed by law. <br /> ARTICLE III. MININSUSUP <br /> Section 1. Membership shall be open to all interested persons on payment Of <br /> dues. The Board of Directors shall have authority to establish or revise classes <br /> of membership and to fix or change dues, but any changes in such classes or <br /> dues shall not affect existing life members. <br /> section 2. Annual membership shall run from the month of payment of dues. The <br /> Board may authorize without amendment to these Bylaws changes, in the time of <br /> renewal of annual memberships on a trial basis for a period not to exceed one <br /> year. $action 3. All members are entitled to vote in the election of Directors <br /> and at Deneral,.Meetings of the Society. Each member shall vote in person. <br />
