ten shelter staff, APS volunteers, and members of rescue groups attended this <br /> workshop. <br /> OBJECTIVES: <br /> • To develop a temperament profile to assist staff <br /> members match potentially adoptable animals to <br /> potential adopters. <br /> • To train staff members to recognize animals with <br /> behavior problems that may make the animals <br /> unadoptable, such as aggressiveness.To train <br /> staff members in profiling. <br /> • To publish on the APS website (animalprotection <br /> society.org) adoptable Shelter animals with their <br /> temperament profile. <br /> STRATEGIES: <br /> • To hold regular training sessions to develop a <br /> reliable mechanism for temperament testing. <br /> • To test animals and have the profiles available to <br /> the staff and public. <br /> OUTCOME: <br /> • To test all dogs and cats that are to be placed in <br /> foster homes. <br /> • To test any dog or cat identified by staff as <br /> needing evaluation. <br /> VII. To provide educational materials and opportunities to <br /> the community to increase empathy toward animals <br /> and human beings and to offer workshops and <br /> programs to help animal care professionals and the <br /> general public understand how they can help protect <br /> .animals. <br /> OBJECTIVES: <br /> • To provide outreach programs to public schools <br /> and tabling at public events <br /> • To develop educational materials that are effective <br /> in explaining animal protection laws and the needs <br /> of animals. <br /> • To provide professional training workshops for <br /> animal care professionals and volunteers working <br /> in the field of animal care and welfare. <br /> 10 <br />
