Personnel increase accounts for$20,395, <br /> and$10,580 is included for upgrading the Shelter facility (see attachment A). <br /> ORANGE COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER 2001 STATISTICS <br /> • 5117 domestic animals were sheltered at the Orange County Animal <br /> Shelter.`The source of the animals was: <br /> o Orange County 56% <br /> o Chapel Hill 16°6 <br /> o Carrboro 5% <br /> o Night Deposit Box 12% <br /> o Other Counties 4% <br /> • 2,017 (40%) of all dispositioned animals were adopted. <br /> • 2,017(39%) of all animals were adopted. <br /> • 598 (12%) of all dispositioned animals were reclaimed (17% of strays). <br /> • 2,282 (450/6) of all dispositioned animals were euthanized. <br /> • 89 animals were quarantined as rabies suspects <br /> • 1,027 emergency calls(6,656 hours of coverage) <br /> • 538 Flables Clinic vaccinations (10 clinics) <br /> • Over 2,000 microchips inserted in pets <br /> • 26,445 Volunteer hours <br /> 100+ educational outreach programs, workshopstcamps <br /> o Care Cadets <br /> o Kids n` Critters <br /> o .Three-Day Horse Investigation Workshop (co-sponsored with <br /> the Humane Society of the United States and NO State <br /> University Equine Program) <br /> o Basic Animal Investigation Workshop <br /> o Tabling, talks to organizations, schools (including no-blte <br /> programs) <br /> o Lecture series <br /> The Animal Protection Society of Orange County is dedicated to service to the <br /> anknals and to the community. <br /> The Board of Directors and APS members embrace Albert Schwe&ees belief <br /> that "Until he extends the circle of his compassion to all living things, man <br /> hanseY Will not find peace.° <br /> s <br /> f. <br /> 3 <br />
