- -- 56g-B <br />(1) The creation of a recreation district coterminous with the present <br />boundaries of the Chapel Hill School District, which district is more <br />particularly described in Attachment A hereto, the object proposed to be <br />accomplished by the creation of such district being the providing of publi <br />recreation facilities in order to preserve and promote the public good and <br />general welfare, and <br />(2) The levy of an annual tax of not less than three cents nor more than ten <br />cents on each $100.00 of assessed valuation of the taxable property within <br />such district for the provision, establishment, maintenance and operation <br />of the recreation facilities, the amount of said tax to be set by the Boar <br />of County Commissioners within said range." <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, we have hereunto set our hands. <br />NAME ADDRESS <br />(In the copy of the petition set forth in the minutes of the March 2, 1967 <br />meeting of the Board of Aldermen the signatures of more than 1,000 resident <br />freeholders appear at this point) <br />ATTACHMENT A <br />The boundaries of the proposed recreation district are as follows: <br />BEGINNING in.the center line of State Road #1112, where the Chapel Hill and <br />Bingham Township line crosses said road; thence in a Southeasterly direction along <br />the center of said road 250 feet to a point where the center line of State Road #111 <br />1,525 feet to a concrete marker in the center of said road; thence South 71° 20' Eas <br />4,390 feet to a concrete marker in the East side of State Road #1179; thence South <br />82° 30' East 5,480 feet to a concrete marker in the East side of old N. C. Highway 8 <br />thence South 81° 09' East 8,780 feet to a point 50 feet East of the center line of <br />State University Railroad; thence in a Northerly direction parallel with the center <br />line of State University Railroad 3,350 feet; thence North 87° 15' East 23,940 feet <br />to the Durham County line; thence in a Southerly direction along the Durham County <br />and Orange County line 53,750 feet to its intersection with the Chatham County line; <br />thence in a Westerly direction along the Orange County and Chatham County line 39,47 <br />feet to the intersection of said County line with the township line between Chapel <br />Hill and Bingham Township; thence in a Northerly direction along the Bingham and <br />Chapel Hill Township line 40,425 feet to the point of BEGINNING." <br />(a) That said petition prays that a recreation district be created within the <br />territory described in said petition, the object proposed to be accomplished by the <br />creation of such district being the providing of public recreation facilities in <br />order to preserve and promote the public good and general welfare. <br />(b) That said petition further prays that a special election be held within <br />such district for the purpose of voting upon: <br />(1) the levy of an annual tax of not less than three cents nor more than <br />ten cents on each $100.00 of assessed valuation of the taxable <br />property within such district for the provision, establishment, main- <br />tenance and operation of the recreational facilities, the amount of <br />said tax to be set by the Board of County Commissioners within said <br />range. <br />(c) That the Town of Chapel Hill is located within the boundaries of such <br />proposed recreation district. <br />Section 2. Said petition is hereby approved in all respects and the Board of ... <br />Aldermen hereby request the Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange to <br />exercise the authority granted to it by said Chapter 1107, as amended, by taking the <br />action requested in said petition. <br />Section 3. A copy of this resolution shall immediately be certified to the <br />Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange. <br />Section 4.
