Dear Applicant: Thank you for your interest in a Habitat for Humanity, Orange County home. Our program is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International; a not for profit housing ministry that seeks to eliminate substandard housing. Our purpose is to build homes in partnership with the Habitat families who will own them. The home is sold at no profit and financed with no interest to families who could not otherwise afford a home. Habitat homes are modest, well-built homes, constructed by volunteers from the community and the families who are selected by our Family Selection Committee. The cost of a Habitat home in the Orange County area is roughly $67,500, and the home is financed through no- interest loans from Habitat for Humanity, Orange County. Mortgage payments average between $290 and $350 a month, depending on location. Please read How to Get and Qualify for a Habitat Home to see if you have an interest in our program AND to see if you meet our general guidelines. All information is considered confidential and is to be used only for family selection. The application process can take 3 to 6 months to complete. If you believe you qualify for a home according to the guidelines and want to start the application process, we encourage you to call the Habitat for Humanity Office at 732-6767 ext. 3 and leave your mailing address to be placed-on our mailing list. Once an Application session is scheduled,you will then receive an invitation. If you have any questions,you may reach me at the Habitat Office, 732-6767,ext. 13. At any step in this process,your application fora home may be denied if it is determined that you do not meet our criteria or do not fully meet the terms of the Habitat partnership. If at anytime false or misleading, information is discovered this will be grounds for rejection of your application.
