APPROVED 9/19/02
Dana wonders if we have made sure that programming is driving the need for
space -that it is what we really need, the way we use classrooms, the way
we've examined collaborative opportunities are appropriate and necessary— if
not, maybe we should rethink our message that overcrowding is such a heinous
thing.
High school standards, middle school standards, and building capacity are the
priorities in Alice's view—also level of service if it comes up.
Craig says we could also bring the easy SAPFO pieces for this group to look at.
Dana thinks it is very important to lay out the process for opening a school —she
would like to see a written document on that with the kind of detail that we have
in the policy for developing new schools and where the decision points are, and
who needs to be involved. That is a concern for OCS before they'll feel
comfortable moving forward with the SAPFO.
It was decided that the next meeting would be at noon on June 27 in
Hillsborough focusing on SAPFO issues.
The meeting adjourned at 2:45pm.
