APPROVED 9119102
In response to Lisa's observation, Craig pointed out that you don't bankrupt yourself to
build schools— it's what's financially feasible, and you have to make your best effort.
Keith Cook thinks it important to consider that the cost.ofhousing being built doesn't
attract children — houses of$100-125K aren't being builf—those are the type of houses
where kids coming to schools would live.
Margaret noted that we have a huge stock of existing affordable housing in Orange
County, but folks aren't moving out of those homes. .
Steve and Raymond said they can prepare school capacity tables. Craig can do a
summary of the student generation rate approach and Carrboro's SAPFO issues. At
the next meeting, we will also cover the portion of the agenda that wasn't covered
today.
It was decided that the next meeting will be on May 30 at noon at the Southern Human
Services Center. Craig will create the next agenda with Margaret and Alice. Staff will
not have time to prepare minutes of this meeting for review then due to attention to the
budget process.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:40pm.
