Opportunities for Collaboration Between School Systems <br /> 1) School Survey Results <br /> 3) .Proposed Institute of Government Assessment <br /> As reported in task force meetings, both school systems have.conducted surveys of their <br /> students to ascertain the degree of interest that might axis;fn shared educational opportunities <br /> between the two systems. Representatives of both systems can outline the results of the <br /> survey and subsequent plans and considerations. The Chairs, Superintendents and Manager <br /> met recently with Phil Boyle of the Institute of Government Faculty to discuss the interests and <br /> objectives of the BOCC and school boards in pursuing an assessment by the IOG of <br /> opportunities for collaboration that may exist between the two school systems. A summary of <br /> that exploratory meeting will be provided at this September 23 work session. <br /> Attachment 1b: CHCCS Educational Opportunities Survey <br /> c. Schools Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance—Timeline & Outstanding Issues <br /> The County Planning Director will provide an update on the status of-consideration by the <br /> prospective parties to agreement on the Schools Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance and <br /> implementing Memorandum of Understanding. He will explain the major decision points to be <br /> addressed in approval of the MOU and ordinance and review a potential timeline that could <br /> lead to February 2003 implementation of SAPFO. <br /> Attachment is— 1: Table— Voting on Schools Adequate Public Facilities <br /> Attachment 1c— 2: SAPFO Possible Implementation Timeline <br /> Attachment 1 c— 3: Flowchart—Procedure for Execution of School APFO <br /> d. Water Conservation Measures <br /> The County and both school systems have undertaken specific measures to respond to the <br /> adverse impacts resulting from the prolonged drought in central North Carolina.
