_ Page j.
Prom: Richard Duncan <rc duncan@ncsu.edu>
To: <tflkes @co.orange.nc.us>
Date: 8/30/02 10:48AM
Subject: Bond Policy
>Ms. Fikes:
>This is my response to The County's Affordable Housing Advisory
>Board's (AHAB) Affordable Housing Bond Policy.
I commend the Board for including accessible and universal housing in
Its points criteria. Perhaps the Board and Orange County might be
served well with more detailed backup to guide developers. I have
attached a preliminary list for your consideration.
The idea would be to have all or most of he homes built with bond
money to posses a minimum of features, understanding that state or
federal guidelines, standards or codes may apply to some of the
housing as well. We think that basic LID features shouldn't be
restricted to so called "fully accessible" homes and that most homes
can achieve a UD outcome in ways that make them appealing to all
buyers or residents.
Dick Duncan
CC: <NCProut @aol.com>
