<br />WHEREAS, after the adoption of the above mentioned resolution the County of <br />Orange has acquired a small tract on the west side of the land heretofore <br />dedicated, and after careful consideration, it is the opinion of this Board that <br />said additional land should be included in the site for the public health building <br />and related medical purposes. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by this Board, that the following described <br />tract is hereby dedicated as a site for a new health building and related medical <br />purposes exclusively: <br />BEGINNING at an iron stake in the South right of way line of Margaret Lane, <br />which stake is located by measuring from the Southwest intersection of <br />Margaret Land and South Cameron Street along the South right of way line of <br />Margaret Lane a distance of 156.22 feet; and running thence West along the <br />South right of way line of Margaret Lane North 84 deg. 00 min. West 211 feet <br />to an iron stake, corner with D. T. Roberts; thence with Roberts' line South <br />5 deg. 37 min. 51 sec. West 266 feet to an iron stake, corner with D. T. <br />Roberts; thence with Roberts' line South 84 deg. 00 min. East 51 feet to a <br />stake; thence South 5 deg. 46 min. 30 sec. West 74 feet to an iron stake in <br />Roberts' line; thence South 84 deg. 00 min. East 160 feet to a stake, corner <br />with other lands owned by Orange County; thence North 5 deg. 37 min. 51 sec. <br />East 340 feet to the place or point of beginning. <br />The description herein set forth includes the original land dedicated plus <br />additional area. <br />This resolution in no way rescinds the resolution adopted on August 15, 1966, <br />but merely enlarges the area to be dedicated. <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Commissioner Ward and unanimousl <br />adopted. <br />Robert Strayhorn, Vice Chairman of the Orange County Planning Board, and <br />Harry Palmer,of the Research Triangle Planning Commission, informed the Bo <br />H ard that <br />the County Planning Board had completed Draft 7 of the proposed zoning ordinance. <br />A copy of said ordinance was presented to the Board. They requested that a date <br />for a public hearing on the zoning ordinance be designated. The auditorium of the <br />Chapel Hill High School was selected as the place for said public hearing and the <br />date was-designated for Wednesday, January 25, 1967 at 7:30 P.M. <br />Chairman Bennett requested that Mr. Strayhorn inquixe of the Planning Board. <br />as to their opinion on whether or not the triangular area located in the southeaster <br />corner of Orange County, presently not zoned by the towns of Chapel Hill or <br />Carrboro, should be brought into the zoning jurisdiction of the town of Chapel Hill. <br />Mr. Strayhorn agreed to make such an inquiry. <br />Lawrence Alley, the engineer who was employed by the County to study the <br />proposed Water Sewerage Extension in the Mebane area, was present to discuss with <br />the Board the details involved concerning the proposed design of said systems. <br />Discussion ensued. . The County Accountant was directed to proceed with necessary <br />details involving options and right of ways as soon as possible. <br />The following resolution was offered by Commissioner Ra <br />Commissioner Ward and unanimously adopted. Y. duly seconded by <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Orange County did, during the summer of <br />1966, replace the floor covering in the Court=oom of the County Courthouse with a <br />new and expensive covering; and <br />WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the Board of County Commissioi <br />that the floor covering in the Courtroom is now being marred and damaged by the <br />dropping of lighted cigarettes by persons having occasion to use or attend meetings <br />in said Courtroom: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Board of County Commissioners of <br />Orange County hereby prohibits the smoking by any person or persons within the <br />confines of the Courtroom in the Orange County Courthouse. <br />That the violation of this ordinance shall be punishable by a fine of not <br />less than $10.00 plus court costs for the first offense. Any conviction of a <br />subsequent offense shall carry punishment of not less than $25.00 nor more than <br />$50.00 for each offense. <br />It is further ordered that a Copy of this resolution be certified to the <br />Clerk ^of the Superior Court and to the•Sheriff of Orange County. <br />It is further directed that the County Manager shall secure appropriate <br />signs to be.-placed in said Courtroom advising the public generally that no smoking <br />will be permitted within said room. <br />Jury lists were drawn for the following terms of court: <br />February 20, 1967 Criminal Term <br />March 20, 1967 Civil Term <br />March 27, 1967 Civil Term
