at-1q <br />Section 6. The Register of Deeds and ex officio Clerk of the Board of <br />Commissioners is hereby directed to certify immediately a copy of this resolution <br />to said County Board of Elections of Orange County. <br />Thereupon, upon motion of Commissioner Cleveland, seconded by Commissioner <br />Walker, the foregoing resolution entitled: "RESOLUTION CALLING A SPECIAL BOND <br />ELECTION" was passed by the following vote: <br />Ayes: Commissioners Harvey A. Bennett, Gordon B. Cleveland, Carl M. <br />Smith and Henry S. Walker. Commissioner William C. Ray abstained from voting. <br />Noes: None <br />Discussion ensued concerning the number of right of way problems being <br />encountered by the State Highway Commission in Orange County. It was noted that <br />within the last few months four roads which had been programmed under the 1966- <br />1967 allocation would not be completed, as the State Highway Commission had advised <br />the Board that the money for these projects were being withdrawn. The Clerk was <br />instructed to make inquiry of the State Highway Commission as to the disposition of <br />the unused allocated funds.. <br />Commissioner Ray informed the Board of his meeting with the Caswell County <br />Board of Commissioners and State Highway representatives. This meeting was held <br />for the purpose of discussing highway #86 North and was attended by Commissioner <br />Ray at-the request of the Caswell County Board of Commissioners. It was agreed that <br />Orange County would endorse the proposal of the Caswell County Board in requesting <br />that immediate consideration be given to the improvement of highway #86. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Ray, seconded by Commissioner Smith, <br />Chairman Bennett was authorized to sign the following Aid to the Blind Grants- <br />AID TO THE BLIND AGENDA <br />November 7, 1966 <br />Name Eff. May Ineligible on basis of <br />vision. <br />The Clerk was authorized to forward road petition #1355 to the State <br />Highway Commission. <br />Jefferson Strickland, Community Coordinator, appeared before the Board to <br />discuss plans relative to his agency's programs in the county. <br />The County Administrator presented bids for five automobiles to be used by <br />the Sheriff's department. Bids were received from Beck Chevrolet Company, Ray Motor <br />Company, and Yates Motor Company. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Cleveland, seconded by Commissioner Ray, Ray <br />Motor Company was allocated the bid for the five automobiles at a cost to Orange <br />County of $6,047.00. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board said meeting was <br />adjourned to meet again on Friday, November 18, 1966. <br />Harvey D.
