MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY
<br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
<br />November 7, 1966
<br />The Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange, North Carolina; met in
<br />regular session at the County Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Caroline, the
<br />regular place of meeting, at 10:00 o'clock A.M., November 7, 1966.
<br />Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, and Commissioners Gordon B. Cleveland,
<br />William C. Ray, Carl M. Smith and Henry S. Walker.
<br />Absent: None
<br />Commissioner Cleveland introduced the following order which was read:
<br />ORDER REPEALING A BOND ORDER INTRODUCED
<br />AND PASSED ON FIRST READING ON OCTOBER
<br />17, 1966 ENTITLED: "ORDER AUTHORIZING.
<br />$3;000,000 SCHOOL BUILDING BONDS"
<br />HE IT ORDERED AND RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange
<br />Section 1. That the bond order introduced and passed on first reading by this
<br />Board on October 17, 1966 entitled: ORDER AUTHORIZING $3,000,000 SCHOOL BUILDING
<br />BONDS" be and the some is hereby repealed.
<br />Section 2. That this order sball•take effect immediately upon its passage.
<br />Upon motion of Commissioner Cleveland, seconded by Commissioner Welker, the
<br />foregoing order entitled: "ORDER REPEALING A BOND ORDER INTRODUCED AND PASSED ON
<br />FIRST READING ON OCTOBER 17, 1966 ENTITLED: "ORDER AUTHORIZING $3,000,000 SCHOOL
<br />BUILDING.BONDS" was passed by the following vote:
<br />Ayes: Commissioners Harvey D. Bennett, Gordon B. Cleveland, William C. Ray,
<br />Carl M. Smith and Henry S. Walker.
<br />Noes: None
<br />Commissioner Walker introduced the following resolution which was read:
<br />RESOLUTION REPEALING A RESOLUTION ENTITLED
<br />"RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR .'THE SUBMISSION
<br />OF TWO BOND ORDERS TO THE VOTERS ON NOVEMBER
<br />8, 1966".
<br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange:
<br />Section 1. The resolution passed by the Board of Commissioners for the County
<br />of Orange on October 3, 1966 entitled "RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE SUBMISSION OF TW
<br />BOND ORDERS TO THE VOTERS ON NOVEMBER 8, 1966" be and the same is hereby repealed.
<br />Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage.
<br />Thereupon, upon motion of Commissioner Walker, seconded by Commissioner Smith,
<br />the foregoing resolution entitled: "RESOLUTION REPEALING A RESOLUTION ENTITLED
<br />'RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE SUBMISSION OF TWO BOND ORDERS TO THE VOTERS ON
<br />NOVEMBER 8, 1966111 was passed by the following vote:
<br />Ayes: Commissioners Harvey D. Bennett, Gordon B. Cleveland, William C. Ray,
<br />Carl M. Smith and Henry S. Walker.
<br />Noes. None
<br />Thereupon Commissioner Cleveland introduced the following resolution which was
<br />read:
<br />RESOLUTION CALLING A SPECIAL BOND ELECTION
<br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange:
<br />Section 1. A special bond election is hereby called to be held on Tuesday,
<br />December 13, 1966, between 6:30 A.M. and 6:30 P. M., Eastern Standard Time, at
<br />which there shall be submitted to the qualified voters of Orange County the followin
<br />questions:
<br />1. Shall an order finally passed on October 3, 1966, authorizing the County of
<br />Orange, North Carolina, to contract a debt, in addition to any and all othe
<br />debt which said County may now or hereafter have power or authority to
<br />contract, and in evidence thereof to issue Water Bonds in an aggregate
<br />principal amount not exceeding $560,000 for the purpose of providing funds,
<br />with any other available funds, for the construction of a waterworks
<br />system in Orange County, including the construction of a dam and water
<br />storage facilities, the installation of mains and lines, and the acquisitio
<br />of necessary land and rights of way, and authorizing the levy and collectio
<br />of a sufficient tax for the payment of the principal of and the interest on
<br />said bonds, be approved?
