<br />Petitions received from the Chapel Hill City Board of Education and the Orange
<br />County Board of Educations.
<br />"The Chapel Hill City Board of Education met at The Superintendent's Office,
<br />in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, the usual place of meeting, at 7:30 o'clock P.M.,
<br />on October 3, 1966, in Regular session.
<br />Present: Mr. Edwin Tenney, Vice Chairman, and Mrs. Mary Scroggs, Mr. Fred
<br />Ellis, Mr. Ben Perry, Dr. Roy Lindahl.
<br />Absent: Mr. Grey.Culbretb, Dr. Richard Peters.
<br />Mrs. Mary Scroggs, Member, introducted the following resolution which was
<br />read:
<br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE BOARD OF
<br />COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF
<br />ORANGE TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SCHOOL
<br />FACILITIES IN THE COUNTY OF ORANGE
<br />BE IT RESOLVED by The Chapel Hill City Board of Education:
<br />Section 1. The Chapel Hill Board of Education has determined and found as a
<br />fact that adequate school facilities are not now available in The Chapel Hill City
<br />Administrative Unit to comply with the requirements of Section 3 of Article IX of
<br />the Constitution of North Carolina for the maintenance of schools six months in
<br />every year, and that it is necessary, in order to maintain such six months' school
<br />term as required by said Section 3 of Article IX of the Constitution, to erect addi-
<br />tional school buildings and other school plant facilities, remodel, enlarge and
<br />reconstruct existing school buildings and other school plant facilities and acquire
<br />necessary land and equipment therefor, in order to provide additional school facilit-
<br />ies in said Unit, the estimated cost of such additional school facilities being
<br />$2000,000.00.
<br />Section 2. The Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange is requested
<br />to take all necessary steps, by the issuance of bonds or otherwise, in order that
<br />funds may be provided for such school facilities.
<br />Section 3. A copy of this resolution shall immediately be certified to the
<br />Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange.
<br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, the foregoing resolution was passed by the
<br />following vote:
<br />Ayes: Mrs. Scroggs, Mr. Tenney, Mr. Ellis, Mr. Perry, Dr. Roy Lindahl.
<br />Noes: None
<br />I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing is an accurate copy of so much of the
<br />recorded proceedings of a meeting of The Chapel Hill City Board of Education held on
<br />October 3, 1966, as relate to the passage of the resolution bereinabove set forth,
<br />and that such proceedings have been recorded in Minute Book 1965-66, beginning at
<br />page 574 and ending at page 574.

<br />North Carolina, the regular place of meeting, at 10 o'clock A.M., on October 3, 1966,
<br />in regular session.
<br />Present: C. W. Stanford, Chairman, and John E. Hawkins, John L. Efland, Jr.,
<br />Roger L. Marshall and W. Glen Caruthers, Jr.
<br />Absent: None
<br />John E. Hawkins, Member,.introduced the following resolution which was read:
