Benedict, ext. 2592 <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough <br />Chapel Hill <br />Durham <br />Mebane <br />732-8181 <br />968-4501 <br />688-7331 <br />(336)227-2031 <br />PURPOSE: To receive public comment on proposed Special Use Standards for schools in the <br />Buckhorn Economic Development District (EDD). <br />BACKGROUND: Various uses within the EDD manual are noted as a Class A or B Special Use <br />Permit without specific standards. Schools are not presently permitted in the Buckhorn EDD, but a <br />proposed amendment to the permitted use table, if approved, would make them a Class A Special <br />Use. <br />Staff has developed a list of special use standards for schools that would be combined with the <br />general standards. The list is attached. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: None at this time. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): Planning Staff recommends approval of the proposed amendment. <br />The Administration recommends that the proposed amendment be referred to the Planning Board <br />for a recommendation to be returned to the BOCC no sooner than October 1, 2003. <br />G\Cmm~rehensive Planning Div\GENE12003 Public HearinasWua 25\SpeCialUseStandards-Schools Abstract.DOC <br />
