Link, Jr., County Manager <br />Geoffrey Gledhill, County Attorney <br />The activities of the committee have been consistent with the Board of County Commissioners' initiative <br />to assist in school site selection because of the strong interrelatedness with land use planning. <br />(See Board of County Commissioner Jacobs March 3, 2003 memo <br />regarding School Facility Planning in the Twenty-First Century -Received <br />2003). (See Attachment No. 1) <br />In addition, there are two other pertinent resolutions and agreements that reference our interest to plan for <br />joint use opportunities with the School Board during the process. Joint Use opportunities may include <br />parks and recreation, future school facilities, affordable housing and/or other County uses and facilities. <br />Resolution of Intent concerning the Role of the Schools and Land Use <br />Councils -Adopted 1998 (See Attachment No. 2) <br />Memorandum Of Agreement for Providing Coordinated Site and Facility <br />Planning -Adopted 1999 (See Attachment No. 3) <br />As you know, my staff has been working on aspects of interest to the Site Selection Committee. At the <br />appropriate time, and regarding an appropriate topic of discussion and decision, it maybe necessary to <br />have a joint meeting with the School Board regarding matters related to purchase of lands coordinated <br />with the school site. These matters may become a joint undertaking. <br />John M. Link, Jr., County Manager and Geoffrey Gledhill, County Attorney, are familiar with the need for <br />this discussion and, with you, will assist in bringing this item forward. <br />I will provide whatever informational background you may need. A report is being prepared by my office <br />regarding the many peripheral issues of site selection. <br />MEMORANDUM <br />
