482 <br />It was noted that some funds will be available from the sale of the Lincoln <br />School property in Chapel Hill, which will defray part of the construction costs <br />for the Chapel Hill unit, however, the available amount is unknown as this <br />property has yet to be sold. <br />Discussion ensued concerning these requests. The County Administrator was <br />directed to advise the County Attorney of the requests for a school bond issue <br />and have him initiate the necessary legal proceedings in order that a school bond <br />election in the amount of $3,000,000.00 might be held on or about December 13, 1966. <br />R. J. Smith, Sr., Chairman of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, reported <br />that during the last twelve months the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board had <br />deposited: with the North Carolina National Bank the sum of $1,400,000.00 and had <br />deposited with the Central Carolina Bank & Trust Company the sum of $767,000.00. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Cleveland, seconded by Commissioner Ray, Chairman <br />Bennett was authorized to sign the following blind aid grants. <br />Mabel Roberson from $42.00 to $14.00 <br />Allen S. Taylor from $18.00 to $21.00 <br />Sophronica Sykes from $75.00 to $100.00 <br />Matilda Pickett from $149.00 to $158.00 <br />Garland Smith No Change <br />Clarence Foust Terminated <br />There being no further business to come before the board said meeting was <br />adjourned to meet again on Tuesday, September 13, 1966 at $:00 o'clock P.M. <br />and on Monday, September 199 1966 at 8:00 o'clock P.M. in the Commissioners <br />room at the Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />Harvey D. Bennett <br />Chairman <br />Betty June Hayes, Clerk <br />MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />September 13, 1966 <br />The Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange, North Carolina, met in <br />adjourned session at 8:00 o'clock P.M., on September 13, 1966, at the County <br />Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina, the regular place of meeting. <br />Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, Commissioners Gordon B. Cleveland, Willi <br />C. Ray, Carl M. Smith and Henry S. Walker. <br />Absent: None <br />The purpose of this meeting was to reply to the letter, given below, which had <br />been received from the Orange-Alamance Water System, Inc. <br />"The Orange-Alamance Water System, Incorporated, P. 0. Box 187, Mebane, North <br />Carolina, has applied to the Farmers Home Administration for assistance in the <br />installation of a community domestic water system which will serve the area from Eno <br />River in Orange County to Back Creek in Alamance County, along Highway 70-A. For a <br />more complete analysis of the system, please refer to the attached map. <br />Farmers Home Administration regulations require that all applications for such <br />facilities be presented to the County Commissioners of the counties involved for <br />review and comment. We would appreciate your review of our proposal and request <br />your comments for use in the development of our project. <br />May we have your comments by September 15th 1966 if at all possible."
