ORANGE COUNTY MULTI - HAZARD PLAN <br />O. PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER <br />1, Prepare policies and Standard Operating Procedures for the coordination of <br />public information during emergencies. <br />2. Prepare and maintain a current roster of staff and contact information. <br />3. Maintain working relationships with the media and a current list of radio <br />stations, television stations and newspapers contact information. <br />4, Establish procedures for public information dissemination. <br />5. Provide rumor control. <br />6. Assist in the preparation and review of Emergency Public Information (EPI) <br />materials for all hazards affecting the County. <br />* Prepare and distribute pre- scripted EPI materials to the media. <br />* Ensure that EPI materials for visually impaired and non- English speaking <br />groups are disseminated. <br />9. Clear information with the County Manager or designee before release to the <br />media. <br />10, Ensure that all sources of information being received are authenticated and <br />verified for accuracy.. <br />11, Assist Health Director and Emergency Medical Coordinator in handling <br />inquiries and informing families of updated emergency information. <br />12. Maintain records of expenditures, obligations, narratives, and operational <br />journals of "response action, including any activities associated with disaster <br />operations <br />13.
