ORANGE COUNTY <br />BAARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: October 3, 2005 <br />Action Agend_ a <br />Item No. <br />SUBJECT: Unified Transportation Advisory Board -Initial Appointments <br />DEPARTMENT: Board of Commissioners <br />PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No <br />ATTACHMENT(S): Under Separate Cover <br />Membership Roster <br />Interest List <br />Application(s)/Resume(s) of Person(s) on the <br />Interest List <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Clerk's Office, 919-245-2125 <br />PURPOSE: To consider making initial appointments to the Orange County Unified <br />Transportation Advisory Board, <br />BACKGROUND: The formation of the Advisory Board was agreed upon on May 17, 2005, The <br />Unified Transportation Advisory Board's charge is as follows: <br />• Advise BOCC and provide information and comments on major transportation issues <br />in the County; <br />• Provide recommendations regarding overall planning and programming of <br />transportation improvements in the County; <br />• Identify and prioritize the County's roadway and transit needs along with associated <br />costs and specific sources of funding; <br />• Assist in the development and review of the transportation component of the <br />Comprehensive Plan; <br />• Provide recommendations to BOCG on Federal and State legislation affecting <br />transportation in Orange County; <br />Explore and make recommendations on innovative techniques and methods to <br />improve the efficiency and capacity of existing and future transportation systems, <br />The Unified Transportation Advisory Board membership's categorical composition was <br />suggested as follows, Only one member would be selected from each category, Applicants <br />that met the categorized descriptions are noted. <br />
