I <br />October <br />10/3: Present Bending Color to Orange County Commissioners <br />Gignoux prepares textile materials for outreach workshops <br />10/29: NCMA Discovery Day: <br />a) Gignoux presents brief slide lecture: Painting with Thread (10 minutes)* <br />b) Gignoux facilitate hands on surface design workshop: MAKING MARKS <br />(Participants add patterns to cloth with textile inks; paint and stamp) <br />November <br />Studio Work: Gignoux arranges large geometric composition: combining patterned cloth with solid <br />fabrics (30 lengths @ 14 " W x 48 " H) this design will be further developed in subsequent outreach <br />work sessions. Gignoux dyes silk fabrics for collage. <br />11/12: NCMA Discovery Day <br />Gignoux facilitates surface design workshop: COMPLEX COLOR (Participants cut, arrange, fuse large <br />sweeping arcs of silk organza over base composition) <br />Studio Work: Gignoux secures silk layers into place: machine stitching <br />December <br />12/10: NCMA Discovery Day <br />Gignoux facilitates surface design workshop: STITCHING PATHWAYS <br />(Participants will deepen color and add surface texture of textile collages by adding hundreds of hand <br />stitches along the silk arches) <br />*Slide lecture can be offered at all three Discovery days at the museum <br />January- February <br />Central Orange County Senior Center: <br />Gignoux will facilitate a series of textile workshops with seniors to complete surface stitching of <br />collages. Gignoux will oversee 6 work sessions over 5 weeks. <br />Studio Work: Gignoux will break larger compositions into smaller trapezoidal units, Finish edges and <br />attach to cording. Collages will be secured to armatures, photographed, ready for installation. <br />Installation: April 2006 <br />Opening Reception: May 15 -19? <br />
