Petition Letters & Secondary Road Addition Reports for <br />East Mill Pointe Ln., Briarwood Ct., Cloverdale Ct., <br />Roebuck Ct., Loganberry Ct., Springhollow Ct., <br />La Mesa Ln., Stone Creek Ct. <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Craig Benedict, ext. 2592 <br />Karen Lincoln, ext. 2594 <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough 732 -8181 <br />Chapel Hill 968 -4501 <br />Durham 688 -7331 <br />Mebane (336)227 -2031 <br />PURPOSE: To consider petitions to add eight (8) roads in Orange County subdivisions to the <br />State - maintained Secondary Road System. <br />BACKGROUND: East Mill Pointe Lane, Briarwood Court, Cloverdale Court, Roebuck Court, <br />Loganberry Court, Springhollow Court: Residents on East Mill Pointe Lane (8 homes), Briarwood <br />Court (7 homes), Cloverdale Court (6 homes), Roebuck Court (7 homes), Loganberry Court (8 <br />homes), and Springhollow Court (4 homes) in Mill Pointe Subdivision have petitioned the North <br />Carolina Department of Transportation ( NCDOT) to accept maintenance responsibilities for those <br />roads. The roads were platted in Phases 4 — 7 of Mill Pointe Subdivision located off the east side <br />of Mill Creek Road (SR 1343) in Cheeks and Cedar Grove Townships. The Board approved <br />Phases 4, 5, 6 and 7 of Mill Pointe Subdivision respectively on April 1999, June 1999, November <br />2000, and October 2001. <br />La Mesa Lane: Residents of La Mesa Lane (21 homes) have petitioned NCDOT to accept <br />maintenance responsibilities for that road. La Mesa Lane, located in La Mesa Subdivision Phase II, <br />is off the south side of Bacon Road (SR 1531), Little River Township. The Board approved La <br />Mesa Subdivision Phase II in August 1996. <br />Stone Creek Court: Residents of Stone Creek Court (5 homes) in Stoneridge Subdivision Section <br />One have petitioned NCDOT to accept maintenance responsibilities for that road. Stoneridge <br />Subdivision, approved by the Board in 1978, is located off the east side of Turkey Farm Road (SR <br />1730), Chapel Hill Township. <br />NCDOT has investigated these requests (please refer to attached Secondary Road Addition <br />Reports) and has submitted the petitions to the Board of Commissioners for its review and <br />approval. The Board must take an administrative action to approve the petitions to NCDOT in <br />order for NCDOT to accept the roads into the State Maintenance Program. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no direct financial impact associated with this decision item. <br />
