John Smith, Jr. was appointed as Orange County Tax Assessor in August <br />1996 to complete the unexpired term of Kermit Lloyd. He was reappointed for the two-year <br />periods July 1, 1997 -June 30, 1999, July 1, 1999 -June 30, 2001, and July 1, 2001 -June <br />30, 2003. Orange County's practice has been to make appointments to the office of Tax <br />Assessor for two-year terms. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: None <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board reappoint John Smith, Jr. <br />as Orange County Tax Assessor for a period of two years, effective July 1, 2003. <br />
