ISSU81: Inadequate data to estimate and plan the chronic homeless programs. <br />Goad 1: Create and improve data on homeless population and services with a <br />special emphasis on chronic homelessness, <br />Recommendations: <br />Implement a homeless survey project to collect and report homeless data <br />of Corpus Christi. Data on chronic, episodic and transitional homeless <br />populations (with special emphasis on chronic homelessness) need to be <br />collected and should be comprised of: <br />o Characteristics and of needs each category of homeless <br />population, <br />o Duration of homelessness for each group, <br />o Causes of homelessness, <br />o Interaction of homeless people with the public systems, and <br />o Support extended to each group in homelessness and the <br />effectiveness of that support. <br />Action Steps: <br />o Contluct point-in-time surveys and focus groups on homeless <br />population to improve the local data, including the populations <br />in various public service systems (HIP, United Way, Caller <br />Times in year one and update the data annually), <br />46 <br />
