iv) Shorten Homelessness <br />This group pointed out that HIP should identify and secure landlords <br />willing to participate in the development of scattered site transitional <br />housing by April 2006. HIP should also focus on improving the homelike <br />setting within the shelter system by conducting a survey among the <br />shelter residents and networking with all shelters and various agencies. <br />v) Rapid Rehousing <br />Participants of this group suggested that all agencies present in the <br />focus group need to collaborate in improving 24-hour services, better <br />transportation, and agency communications. Catholic Charities should <br />provide education on responsible tenant practices by providing quarterly <br />training sessions and one-on-one appointments. Ongoing counseling <br />sessions should be conducted by Consumer Credit Counseling. <br />vi) Services <br />The group suggested that HIP should take the lead in collaborating and <br />partnering case management services. MHMR, Catholic Charities, AA <br />Council on A&D, and various other agencies should provide counseling <br />and group support. Within one-year Goodwill industries, Workforce <br />(TWC), Consumer Credit Counseling, and Delmar should provide <br />various employment and educational services which fosterjob retention. <br />vii) Permanent Housing <br />Provision of affordable, accessible, and fair housing was the major <br />suggestion by this group.
