2.[. Corpus Christi conducted a homeless survey involving 374 total <br />Survey and participants of whom 260 persons self described as homeless. The <br />Focus Group results of the survey were described in Section 1.3 of the report. <br />According to the HIP Point-in-Time survey conducted on January 29, <br />2003, 44 of the 281 individuals were chronically homeless. HIP and <br />United Way of the Coastal Bend conducted a Focus group forum on <br />June 10, 2003 involving more than 300 interested agencies. Forty-three <br />participants were divided into eight groups, which brainstormed to <br />outline strategies to address chronic homelessness. Each group focused <br />on a single area, including: <br />i) Emergency Prevention, <br />ii) Systems Prevention, <br />iii) Outreach, <br />iv) Shorten Homelessness, <br />v) Rapid Re-Housing, <br />vi) Services, <br />vii) Permanent Housing, and <br />viii) Income. <br />i) Emergency Prevention <br />This group suggested that HIP, United Way, and Caller Times should <br />work on developing a resource list consisting of agencies that assist with <br />rental, mortgage, and/or utility payments. The list should be made <br />available to the community by June 2004. A central tracking system <br />needs to be developed by HIP, the City, and the County, which can track <br />clients for services, by June 2004. <br />33 <br />
