2.1- Homeless Issues Partnership Inc, (NIP) is the local homeless coalition in <br />Accompiishm®~rts Corpus Christi and Nueces County, HIP facilitates the Continuum of Care <br />planning process. As per 2003 Continuum of Care, the following are <br />specific actions that the community has taken over the past year to end <br />chronic homelessness: <br />Using HUD funds to leverage additional funds: <br />Carpus Christi passed a 1/8 cents sales tax, which is estimated to <br />generate $500,000 for affordable housing developments for low-income <br />residents. <br />Create a housing fund that would allow local agencies to access and <br />secure permanent housing: <br />Final decision is still pending from Corpus Christi Business and Job <br />Development Corporation Board, <br />Build permanent housing: <br />Qver the last three years Corpus Christi has added 183 affordable <br />homes, 30 are under construction by the Corpus Christi Housing <br />Authority, and 30 new homes were completed by the Nueces County <br />Community Action Agency. The Carpus Christi Housing Authority has <br />purchased land to construct 230 affordable rental units. <br />Increase housing knowledge and capacity among community-based <br />mental health service providers: <br />30 <br />
