This <br />piece of equipment has a bucket on the front and is used in multiple applications around the <br />Landfill. Among these applications are: <br />• Loading mulch into citizen's/contractor's trucks <br />• Unloading large bulky items <br />• Loading gravel, etc on County trucks during the normal operation of the Landfill <br />• Push up Yard Waste when unloaded <br />• Push up Boiler Fuel into piles when unloaded and load into Trailers when ground <br />• Push up tires attire pile <br />• Push up Clean Metal and help load trailers with metal <br />• Push up White Goods <br />Orange County staff developed specifications. These specificaticns were part of bid solicitation <br />#261 that was sent to ten vendors as well as advertised an the County's website and the Herald <br />Sun Newspaper. Six firms submitted bids with Gregory Poole of Raleigh, North Carolina <br />submitting the lowest responsible bid that was responsive at a bid at a delivered cost of <br />$105,100. This price also includes a 60-month warranty on the power train as well as the <br />hydraulic cylinders. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The purchase price of the wheel loader is $105,100. Sufficient funds <br />were allocated within the FY 2005-2006 Solid Waste budget to purchase the piece of <br />equipment outright. <br />
