Gattis, Acting Clerk <br />MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />June 29, 1966 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Wednesday, <br />June 29, 1966, at 7:30 p.m. in the Commissioners room at the courthouse in <br />Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />Members present: Chairman Harvey Bennett, Commissioners Gordon B. Cleveland, <br />William C. Ray and Carl M. Smith. <br />Members absent: Commissioner Henry S. Walker. <br />This meeting was held for the purpose of budget discussions with Dr. Willard <br />Swears, Superintendent of the Chapel Hill Administrative Unit, and members of the <br />Chapel Hill School Board. <br />Dr'. Swears presented the proposed budget and requested that the followiing <br />amendments be added to the proposed Capital Outlay Budget which had been previously <br />submitted. <br />Proposed amendments: $400,000.00 for a new elementary school <br />$ 22,602.70 to replace money previously allocated that was <br />used to construct a sewer line <br />$ 20,000.00 to purchase four W additional school busses <br />$ 75,000.00 as a capital reserve fund to be used at Frank <br />Porter Graham School if a proposed Federal program to be <br />'instituted at said school is not approved <br />Discussion ensued concerning said proposed budget and the proposed amendments. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Cleveland, it was <br />moved and unanimously adopted that, the Special School Supplemental Tax rate be <br />increased from 179 to 20¢ per one hundred dollar valuation. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board said meeting was . <br />adjourned. <br />Harvey D.
