1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: June 16, 2026 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 8-g <br /> SUBJECT: Approval of Contract for Seymour Center Theatre Renovation <br /> DEPARTMENT: Aging <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> Contract Janice Tyler, Director, 919-245-4255 <br /> PURPOSE: To approve a contract for the renovation of the Seymour Center Theatre paid for by <br /> an anonymous donation to the Orange County Department on Aging. <br /> BACKGROUND: The Seymour Theatre is used daily for programs, including education <br /> presentations, movies, music and theater performances both by Center participants and invited <br /> outside performers. An anonymous donor recognized the need for the theater to be upgraded. <br /> After months of meetings involving the donor and Aging and Asset Management Services (AMS) <br /> staff, the project guidelines were finalized. An informal bid approach was used for this project <br /> with the assistance of the AMS Department and the donor. <br /> Custom Light and Sound, Inc. was selected as the best vendor to meet all project requirements <br /> at a cost of$130,051.04. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: The renovation project is financed by an anonymous donation to the <br /> Department on Aging. There is no financial impact to the County. <br /> ALIGNMENT WITH STRATEGIC PLAN: This item supports: <br /> • GOAL 2: HEALTHY COMMUNITY <br /> OBJECTIVE 8. Invest in services and programs that improve the health and quality of life <br /> of the community. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve and authorize the <br /> County Manager to sign the contract and any amendments following review and approval by the <br /> County Attorney. <br />
