I also value the collaborative nature
of the Planning Board process and enjoy working through complex issues in a way that balances
community interests, economic growth, and long-term sustainability.
How would your particpation on this board contribute to the diversity of viewpoints?
I bring a perspective that combines both local roots and outside experience. I grew up in Orange
County, moved away for several years while living and working in Washington, DC, and have
recently returned. During that time, I gained exposure to different approaches to growth,
infrastructure, transportation, housing, and community planning in a larger metropolitan
environment.
At the same time, I understand Orange County's culture, history, and values because this is my
hometown. Having seen both where the County came from and how other regions manage
growth, I believe I can contribute a balanced perspective that supports progress while protecting
the character of the community.
Do you have any personal or business interest(s)that could create a conflict of interest
(either real or perceived) if you are appointed to this board?
Orange County Board of Adjustment
Please explain how your background, education and experience is relevant to this board
My professional background in utility-scale renewable energy development and construction has
given me extensive experience working with zoning regulations, permitting requirements, land
use considerations, and development review processes. I regularly work with local jurisdictions
on issues involving compliance, variances, permitting coordination, and interpretation of
development standards.
In addition, my prior service as Vice Chair of the Orange County Planning Board provided direct
exposure to the County's land use framework and development policies. That experience
strengthened my understanding of how zoning decisions impact both property owners and the
broader community.
I believe this combination of technical development experience and prior board service would
allow me to thoughtfully evaluate cases that come before the Board of Adjustment.
Please explain your reasons for wanting to serve on this board
I am interested in serving because I value fair, consistent, and practical decision-making in local
government. Boards like the Board of Adjustment play an important role in ensuring that
ordinances are applied thoughtfully while also recognizing the unique circumstances that
individual property owners may face.
I enjoy problem-solving and reviewing issues from multiple perspectives, and I believe my
professional experience working within regulatory frameworks would allow me to contribute
constructively to the board's work. Most importantly, I see service on the board as an opportunity
to give back to the community where I grew up.
How would your particpation on this board contribute to the diversity of viewpoints?
I would bring both private-sector development experience and local community perspective to
the board. Much of my professional work involves balancing regulatory requirements, project
feasibility, community concerns, and long-term planning objectives.
Additionally, having lived both in Orange County and in the Washington, DC area, I have seen
different approaches to development, housing, infrastructure, and land use policy. I believe that
combination of local familiarity and outside perspective would help contribute balanced and
practical viewpoints during board discussions.
